I start playing with covers right after the first draft is finished, which is just about the time the actual title of the book comes to me. Life As We Knew It starts the apocalyptic series “Transformation Project”, which will follow a small Midwest town as it descends into the chaos left by a terrorist attack that disables the United States of America as we know it. I haven’t set a date for publication yet, but sometime this spring.

Front Cover Final 1.27.15Chaos changes everything!

Shane Delaney, a burned-out mercenary with a troubled past, returns home to small-town Kansas to heal his scars and quiet his demons, not planning to stay long enough for the townsfolk to reject who he has become.

He never expected the town to need his deadlier skills.

When a terrorist attack on distant cities abruptly transforms life as they knew it, the people of Emmaus must forget their own disaster plan to survive.

What would you do if the world as you know it ended today?

The people of Emmaus will find out.

And, yes, the cover holds a message. I’m open to your interpretations. What do you see in this picture?
