Apply Logic to Gun Discussion   6 comments

My life was saved by a gun, as are millions of American lives every year.

  1. Your mom should have ventilated a couple of them. Not long ago over in Fort Worth the cops showed up to burglary in progress alarm call to find the suspect barricaded in a closet and a 70 something grandmother with a .38 in her hand. Suspect needed medical, told the cops thorugh the door “keep that crazy ol’ bitch away from me!” There is no logical gun control argument any more than there is a people control argument. They could quit making guns for civilians tomorrow and there would still be plenty. And whack jobs are everywhere. The only answer is be prepared to protect yourself. How many riots were there and how many cops are in jail because someone failed to shoot a home invader?

    • That was Mom’s feeling after we heard about what happened to Kathy. She could have prevented that if only she’d pulled the trigger. And who knows how many other women those men went after. If they didn’t rethink their plan after she pointed the gun at them, they were pretty determined to rape someone.

But of course she didn’t want to kill anyone and a 357 makes a much bigger hole in someone than an AR15 or a 38. It was her Bear gun, after all. She always said if they didn’t leave, she’d have shot the first one through the door. But to shoot them while the door was still holding would have been a Murder 2 charge for her back then, so she tried to follow the law. Now, she could shoot them through the door if the door frame was cracked — which it was. The courts here are way more realistic today than they were in 1973.
