What toppings do you put on your pizza? Is pineapple a real pizza topping?

Simply Pizza
Ah, Pizza, one of North America’s food groups!
My husband and I consume pizza about twice a month. There’s a great pizza company here in Fairbanks that does a once-a-month Customer Appreciation Day. You have to pick it up, they only have mediums on that day and it only comes in cheese and pepperoni and cheese. We usually pick up two. We consume one that night and he has lunches for the next two days.
Then the other night when we consume pizza, it’s usually a weird one that I made myself.
Either way, there’s always going to be pepperoni on it because it ain’t pizza without pepperoni.
When we customize our pizza, our favorite ingredients are pepperoni, extra cheese, black olive, and mushrooms.
Libertarian Pizza
I’m libertarian, which means I don’t technically care what you put on your pizza. You do you. I will eat pineapple pizza, but I don’t make pizzas with pineapple on them and I don’t order them that way. I think pineapple on pizza is a dodgy idea. People put a lot of dodgy ingredients on pizza. A friend from Australia says Vegemite pizza is quite good. Uh….
But what you want to do with your pie is entirely your business. Enjoy. It’ll leave more pepperoni for me.
Simply because of the other half’s dietary restrictions and red dye turns her into Satan we get the alfredo (or white) sauce, light cheese Chicken, bacon, onions, black olives mushrooms and on occasion spinach. Like pineapple I think spinach is one of those Cali fruits and nuts ideas. But I’ll eat it. Anchovies? Screw that. I also get to share my grandson’s pepperoni and meatball (another suspicious topping) pizzas. Having eaten pizza in Northern Italy I will tell you now what we think is pizza and what they think are two entirely different things! Enjoy it, regardless. Hand food is good food.

I like anchovies and peppers on pasta, but it’s usually not good on pizza. I’ve tried all kinds, including my Aussie friend’s Vegemite (not recommending it), but I’m a medium crust with cheese and pepperoni fan. Black olives and mushrooms are a good taste treat. When I make it at home, it’s closer to Italian pizza, except I do use American style sauce. The olive oil and tomato dices is okay, but my husband finds it weird.

Vegemite? I’m not sure, although it’s sort of on par with broccoli. Pepperoni, now you’re talking. The weird thing is, what we get in England is nowhere near what I remember from Italy. It could be another thing altogether, yet I still love it.

I am not a purist. I’ve been known to overload my pizzas with too many types of toppings. Pepperoni is always one of them.

Glad to hear that Fairbanks has good pizza. The husband and I are looking at moving back to Alaska in a few years, and Fairbanks is on the list of new hometowns to consider. @samanthabwriter from

Be aware the summers are still glorious and the winters are still COLD. I like the consequences of that — fewer people — but winter is still brutal.
