So, who will I vote for in the Alaska US Senate primaries on August 16.

It will NOT be Lisa Murkowski. I didn’t believe in nepotism before she filled the seat and she has convinced me that my gut reaction to nepotism was 100% correct.

Paul Kendell – Probably not. His website makes him sound like a nut. I agree with his platform, but “random” would be a great way to describe his website.

Thomas Lamb – Now, he appears to have his head screwed on straight and I like that he used to be an Alaska Independence Party member. I hope to catch him at the State Fair to discuss some things with him. I can’t say I would vote for him for sure, but he’s on my list or possibilities

Bob Lochner – Way too much of a statist warmonger for me.

So, if I vote in the GOP primary, I will probably vote for Thomas Lamb. I’m skipping the Democratic candidates because I see no one there who will even come near Lisa in the polls because they don’t really represent Alaskans and because they don’t represent Alaskans, I’m not voting for them.

Cean Stevens – she’s a Libertarian candidate. She is making one campaign pledge – that she will step down after two terms. She may well be my general election pick.

Breck Craig – an Independent candidate – I liked his environmentally sensitive pro-development stance, but his desire to build up the military in Alaska left me decidedly tepid toward him.

Ted Gianoutsos – an Independent candidate – is basically running on a Vets First platform. I think we should support our vets, but there are other issues too. So, no.

Margaret Stock – an Independent candidate – very pro-military and the only way to access her website is if you say you support her and she wants money too. The Alaska Dispatch News immediately began talking her up, which is a red flag for me. So, no.

Bruce Walden – he wants to represent the people of Alaska – he’s running his campaign from a Facebook page, which is unique. I actually like some of what he has to say. But I’m probably not voting for him.

I doubt Thomas Lamb will knock Lisa out in the primaries — and she would come back as a write-in again — but if he does, that would make Cean Stevens a viable candidate. Alaskans are pretty libertarian.
