No group of men is above scrutiny or criticism. NO ONE.

So very true! Often we think there are certain kinds of people or personalities or jobs that do not require accountability, but this is NEVER wise. We always find out later that the lack of accountability corrupted good habits.

  1. You’ve got to be kidding.
The ultra rich (and that seems to include most politicians) are way beyond any form of scrutiny or criticism.

If they even think they are going to be looked at they carefully pass or arrange for laws to be passed that keep themselves free of any form of scrutiny or criticism.

Even if they can’t pass laws they just buy off whoever is asking or make them an offer they can’t refuse.
If that fails they just buy the law and if that fails, they just threaten to take their money elsewhere.

Finally, ever heard of regime change?
Even the hint of that and world leaders fall over themselves to protect those elite souls..

No group of men is above scrutiny or criticism. NO ONE.
Come on, seriously, hand on heart,
Do you REALLY believe that or is that just the quadruple vodka working?

    • As a Christian, I believe that God created human beings to be accountable both to Him and to our fellow human beings. We are all individuals standing solo before God, but we were also designed for community, because we were created in God’s spiritual image.

Stepping back from my morality that informs my ethics — when we’re discussing public officials — no one should be above scrutiny. They are our representatives and the things they do affect us. We must demand accountability. And, to the extent we haven’t in the past (which is huge), we need to admit our mistake and demand the government become once more accountable to us or be dissolved as a bad idea.

Whether or not our leaders want scrutiny or accountability, we the people must demand it because ultimately, we are the government and our failure to provide accountability makes their behavior possible.

      • Nice sentiment then I remember that money is the fruit of all evil and:-

Luke 19:45-48 (ESV) Jesus Cleanses the Temple

45 And he entered the temple and began to drive out those who sold,
46 saying to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a den of robbers.”

        What happened next?
The money men got him and were never held accountable.

Fast forward to today, nothing changes, the money men are getting us now and still not being held accountable.

As for what should happen and what is?
You can reflect on what should be all you want.
The reality is what is, some are beyond the law.

      • Ah, yes, but the last chapter has not been opened yet, has it? There will be accountability for all who deny that Christ is Lord and it will be eternal. Which my Savior says I should regard as sad, not rich desserts.

Nobody said this life would be perfect. In fact, Jesus guaranteed to His followers that our lives would be hard … but worth it at the same time.
