Joel Osteen Shows His True Stripes   6 comments

I’m posting this cold without a great deal of thought because Joel Osteen has always been the epitome of a Christian heretic in my estimation.

http://current.com/shows/upstream/94093494_mega-church-pastor-joel-osteen-resigns-leaves-christian-faith-oops-there-is-zero-evidence-the-bible-is-the-holy-word-of-god-he-says.htm

I don’t know a single person who I consider to be a Biblical Christian who thought Osteen was a Christian. So, now he shows his stripes. Goodbye, Mr. Osteen. Farewell. And I hope God finds you and proves to you that you are wrong.

  1. I’m not defending the guy, but apparently this is a hoax.

    • I did say I hadn’t researched it. But, it would be excellent news if Mr. Osteen had done just that. Sadly, his loosey-goosey, god-of-my-own-design “theology” leads way too many astray from the true faith found only in the Bible, which is extremely well researched and reliable.

      • I honestly don’t know anything about him. What specifically is his “god-of-my-own-design theology”? If what you say is true, it sounds like his doctrine needs correcting.

The Bible is certainly reliable. Not sure I would count on the research that’s been done on it for anything. Archeologists say the world looks a certain way one day and everything turns upside down the next. That has no impact on my faith. The Holy Ghost testifies of the truth of the Bible – that’s all I need.

  3. Brian, Joel Osteen teaches the “prosperity gospel” You know, “name it and claim it”, follow these seven steps and the great cosmic genie will give you what you seek.” He talks about God, but it’s not the God of the Bible, it’s god as a billikin — a good luck charm. You can’t fault his success at using that to build a social gathering institution, but you can’t call it the gospel of Jesus Christ.
